I’ve decided to take a break from blogging for a little while. Although there are plenty of things to write about, I’m finding it hard to write about them. Sometimes when the words won’t come, you can either force them out or have a rest. This is not very journalistic of me, I admit, and perhaps it’s undisciplined, but I’m interested to see what happens if I stop for a while.
I leave you with peaches, to show what’s been around. Here’s what is in store for us in the coming weeks: purple figs, garlic flowers pungent when crushed, pathways of golden grass, burgundy plums and green pluots to name just a few. Please dip back into the archives and enjoy the stories and recipes – there are many, and I hope they’ll give you pleasure. On a more frivolous note, in the words of E.F Benson and his 1930s ladies, Mapp and Lucia (who did very little else but lunch), this is not goodbye, but “au reservoir”. Enjoy your August.
Well I look forward to the next flourish! Sometimes a lull is a good move tho I’ve found in the Arts – renewal and all that:)
Thanks, Maxine. Definitely hoping for more flourishes…:)
Enjoy your time off. Looking forward to your return and the stories you’ll tell.
Thank you Pamela 🙂
Sometimes it is fruitful to take a rest, welcome back when the time is right!
Thanks Laila – it’ll be a little holiday from blogging. Lovely to hear from you. x
Lovely series of photos with the vibrant colour from the fruits. Love it! It is also a good time for yourself to enjoy. Enjoy your time-off.
Thanks so much for the compliments!
Enjoy the month of August, too. Will miss your blog posts. Your ‘slop cake’ was a huge hit.
All the best.
Thank you very much – I presume by ‘slop’ cake you mean Lucas’s chocolate marmalade slump cake…? It is a hard one to beat, I know. He is a wizard. Thank you for the lovely comments and for stopping by. Sophie
Indeed I did mean the slump cake- it was a huge success and was christened ‘my slop cake’ for some obscure reason!
I hope that you’re enjoying the summer, and that everything is well with you. Looking forward to hearing more of your wonderful – and always brilliantly told – stories sometime soon…
Thanks so much Georgina. I look forward to your lovely writing too. xx
So good to take time off. I took off about 3 weeks and came back energized. Plus, if you’re not having fun, it’s time for a damn break. You have to love doing it.
Sophie–I’ve been buried with work, so I’m just catching up on things (ncluding this). I hope this is a good interregnum. (He says, as the corners of his mouth turn down.) I hope you find the restorative your batteries need. Frankly, given the baseline esthetic level of your prose, I can’t imagine you ever being at a loss for words, but do what you must. I’ll miss you. ken
